How to Factory Reset iPhone Without Losing eSIM Data?

If you need to reset your iPhone but want to keep your eSIM activated, follow these steps carefully. A factory reset can erase all data, but your eSIM can remain active if done the right way.

Step 1: Back Up Your iPhone

Before resetting, back up your data to iCloud or a computer:

  • Go to Settings > [Your Name] > iCloud > iCloud Backup

  • Tap Back Up Now

Step 2: Sign Out of iCloud (Optional)

This step is optional, but if you're planning to sell your device, sign out of iCloud:

  • Settings > [Your Name] > Sign Out

Step 3: Reset All Content and Settings

  • Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone

  • Tap Erase All Content and Settings

  • During the process, you’ll be asked if you want to keep your eSIM data

  • Choose Keep eSIM

Step 4: Set Up Your iPhone Again

  • After the reset, set up your iPhone as new or restore from a backup

  • Your eSIM should remain active
